Literature Text

I never thought of darkness as a solid wall of blackness, nor like a deep pit filled with some black ink; instead, I always thought of it as little strips, ribbons of black, all lacing between one another and pulling tight to form a tense weaving.

In this case, light could be either two things: a dye that dyes the darkness just slightly lighter, or a pair of scissors that severe the ribbons with a sharp snip.

But for me, when the blades on those scissor closes and banish the darkness, I become uneasy. The light may reveal what was hidden before me, but it also reveals me to whatever may be searching for me.

I like the darkness. It masks the world and paves a path for me to use my imagination. With darkness, I can replace the world about me with my own.

And so every day I wait, wait for the sun to lower and wait for the world to weave its ribbons of myth and mystery. The Earth is a seamstress of blackness, and I am very fond of its work thus far. . . .
My feelings on the darkness, and one of the reasons I like to stay up 'till the wee hours of the morning.
